Every pet has a unique personality, whether they are large or small, furry or scaly. At Josephine Downen Photography, my goal is to capture your pet’s distinct personality through photographs that you can cherish forever. For reptile, amphibian, and other creature breeders or collectors, my goal is to capture your animals both beautifully and authentically. My aim is not to change your animal into something perfect, but rather to capture their characteristics that make them perfect.
Whether it’s a special occasion or just for fun, professional pet portraits are the perfect way to commemorate your pet.
What Kind of Pets Do You Photograph?
If you view my portfolio, you will see that I photograph all types of pets. I have a deep love for all animals, including the ones often seen as “creepy” or “ugly.” I will photograph just about anything, including dogs, cats, horses, birds, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and other invertebrates.
Essentially, the only animals I will not photograph are ones that endanger my safety: aggressive pets or illegal wild animals.
How Much Does it Cost?
Ah, everyone’s favorite question. My prices are structured to be as flexible as possible for each of my clients. You can build up the package that is right for you and your animal(s).
My session fee is $100 per hour, which includes two professionally edited digital photos.
Extra photos can be added for $15 per photo, or special prices below for bundle deals.
5 Photos: $65 ($10 off!)
10 Photos: $125 ($25 off!)
A one hour shoot is great for one or two pets. If you have more animals or just want some extra time to make sure we get everything perfect, we can add extra time to your shoot.
1 1/2 hours: $150
2 hours: $190
I have a collection of animals (5+ ) that I’d like photographed.
Are you a breeder or just a devout hobbyist of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, or anything else? Shoot me an email and we can discuss how best to go about your shoot. My goal is to capture your animals the way you envision while also providing you a reasonable deal.
Is A Portrait Session Right For My Pet?
Consider your pet’s personality when deciding if a portrait session is right for them. For my safety, I cannot do sessions with aggressive pets.
If your pet is skittish but not aggressive, consider adding the “Pre-Shoot TLC” to your photoshoot package. At no extra cost to you, this adds an extra 15-30 minutes onto our session where we focus solely on adjusting your pet to me and the photography setup. I may slowly set up equipment, but will not be starting the actual shoot.
